She visited one day\n                    when the teacher was absent. The children were left on their own\n                    in a room with nothing for them to do; their\n                    toys were locked away in a cupboard. The tables and\n                    chairs were made for adults.<\/p>\n\n                <p>\n                    Maria Montessori, astonished, watches these children:\n                <\/p>\n\n                <ul>\n                    <li>they are dependent on adults,<\/li>\n                    <li>\n                        they cannot choose activities in the absence of\n                        an adult,\n                    <\/li>\n                    <li>\n                        they have tables and chairs that aren\u2019t suited to\n                        their height\u2026\n                    <\/li>\n                    <li>\n                        They are fidgeting, shouting and moving about in a disorderly manner.\n                    <\/li>\n                <\/ul>\n\n                <p>\n                    Conclusion: the uninformed observer might think that children\n                    are naturally unruly and that they need\n                    adult authority to settle down and get on with their work.\n                <\/p>\n\n                <p>\n                    Maria Montessori sees things differently: she is\n                    an anthropologist, remember; her observations lead her to\n                    think:\n                <\/p>\n\n                <ul>\n                    <li>\n                        Let\u2019s offer them furniture that\u2019s the right size for them so that they\n                        can move about freely,\n                    <\/li>\n\n                    <li>\n                        let us offer them freely accessible activities so\n                        that they can be independent and free to pursue their own\n                        intellectual development,\n                    <\/li>\n\n                    <li>\n                        Let\u2019s step back, as adults, and see what\n                        happens\u2026\n                    <\/li>\n                <\/ul>\n\n                <div class=\"eme-highlight\">\n                    <p>\n                        The first Casa dei Bambini was born!\n                    <\/p>\n                <\/div>\n\n                <p class=\"translation-block\">Une classe Montessori est, vous l\u2019aurez compris, un\r\n                    <strong>\u201cenvironnement pr\u00e9par\u00e9\u201d<\/strong> pour les besoins de\r\n                    l'enfant.<\/p>\n\n                <p>\n                    These needs will change depending on the age group\n                    to which the child belongs, and so the class will adapt\n                    to meet the needs of each group.\n                <\/p>\n\n                <p>\n                    The key criteria that a Montessori class must meet:\n                    Montessori:\n                <\/p>\n\n                <ul>\n                    <li class=\"translation-block\"><strong>Suitable for the age group<\/strong> of the children\n                        in care, size of furniture, height of shelves,<\/li>\n\n                    <li class=\"translation-block\">Enabling <strong>freedom of movement and choice\n                        of activities<\/strong> (the materials are arranged on the\n                        shelves within the children\u2019s reach)<\/li>\n\n                    <li class=\"translation-block\"><strong>An adult who is observant and discreet<\/strong>\n                        and who understands the stages of a child\u2019s physical,\n                        emotional, social and intellectual development.<\/li>\n                <\/ul>\n\n                <p class=\"translation-block\">Once these prerequisites have been met, we can see\n                    children <strong>who are independent<\/strong>, motivated and focused,\n                    on the path to <strong>self-discipline\u2026<\/strong><\/p>\n\n            <\/div>\n\n        <\/div>\n\n    <\/div>\n\n<\/section>\n\n\n<\/div>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>P\u00e9dagogie Montessori L&rsquo;environnement pr\u00e9par\u00e9 L\u2019enseignant Montessori est responsable de l\u2019environnement pr\u00e9par\u00e9, qui r\u00e9pond aux besoins et aux int\u00e9r\u00eats des enfants, gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 un mat\u00e9riel adapt\u00e9 !
